These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Shorties app for iPhone and iPad, Shorties for Mac, Shorties Desk, the Shorties connector for Claude, and this website (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Agreement and eligibility

You enter into a binding agreement with Subbie when you use the Service.

You must:

Be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher

Have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms

Follow all applicable laws

If you use the Service for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. The Service

Shorties helps you record, import, cut, caption, title, voice, export and plan short videos and carousels. Much of that help is AI-assisted: writing scripts and titles, turning speech into captions, planning an edit (Auto Edit and Edit with AI), making pictures and voiceovers, cleaning up audio, analysing what is trending, and editing from Claude through the Shorties connector. Optional cloud backup through iCloud may be available.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Some features, including voice cloning and other AI tools, may be offered on a limited, invite-only, or beta basis.

The Service is for personal content creation. It is not a general-purpose hosting platform and is not meant for illegal, harmful, or infringing use.

3. Your account

Sign in with Apple is required for features that use our servers, including every cloud AI feature and the Claude connector.

You are responsible for:

Keeping your Apple ID secure

Everything that happens under your account

Giving accurate information where asked

You may not share, sell, or transfer your account to another person without our permission.

4. Subscriptions, credits and purchases

Shorties Pro

Shorties offers Shorties Pro, an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks premium features and a monthly allowance of AI credits. Plans may include quarterly and annual billing. Prices vary by region and are shown in the app before you buy.

Free trials may be offered on eligible plans (for example, a 7-day trial). If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription renews automatically at the price shown.

AI credits

AI features use credits. A Pro subscription includes a credit allowance, and credit packs may be sold separately as consumable purchases. The app shows what each feature costs before you run it. Credit prices, allowances, and which features need credits can change. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and are removed when you delete your account.

Billing

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment card.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period

Your Apple account is charged when you confirm the purchase and at each renewal

Manage or cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your device

Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies

Apple’s terms

Your use of the App Store version of Shorties is also subject to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

5. AI features

AI features are provided as-is. You understand and agree that:

AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing anything AI made before you publish it.

Cloud AI features send data as described in our Privacy Policy, only when you use them

AI features use credits or need a Pro subscription, as shown in the app

We do not guarantee the availability, speed, or quality of any AI feature, and we may change the models and providers behind them

We do not use your content to train AI models

Voices

You may clone your own voice, or someone else’s only with their clear permission. You may not use an AI voice to impersonate a real person, to deceive, or in a way that breaks the law. Every voiceover made with your cloned voice carries an inaudible watermark marking it as AI-made; you may not remove it.

AI effects with your own Higgsfield key

AI effects run on your own Higgsfield account. You paste your Higgsfield API key into Shorties, and the app sends your clip straight to Higgsfield, which bills you under Higgsfield’s terms. We are not a party to that relationship, cannot see or refund those charges, and are not responsible for Higgsfield’s output or availability. For “Put me in a video,” you must have the right to use the video you pick, and for “Turn me into,” you must use a character or a person who has agreed to it.

The Shorties connector for Claude

If you connect Shorties to Claude, your Claude account can read your projects and send edits, under Anthropic’s terms. You can disconnect at any time. We are not responsible for what Claude does with what it reads, or for its edits; review them like any other AI output.

Trending and Recreate

Trending shows public posts from creators we chose, with a breakdown of why each worked, for inspiration. Recreate makes something new in your own voice from that structure. You may not use these tools to copy another creator’s words, pictures, or video, and you are responsible for making sure what you publish is your own.

6. Your content

Ownership

You keep ownership of the videos, audio, pictures, scripts, carousels, and other content you create or import (“Your Content”), subject to any third-party rights in material you include.

Licence to Subbie

To run the Service, you grant Subbie a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content only as needed to provide the Service: for example, to turn a take into captions, send a thumbnail to a writing model for a title, relay a project to your Claude account, or back a project up to your iCloud. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from the Service, except where we must keep it by law.

What you promise

You own Your Content or have the rights you need to use it

Your Content does not break any law or anyone else’s rights

You have the consent you need from the people who appear in, are recorded by, or are voiced in Your Content

Content you may not make or keep here

Anything illegal, fraudulent, or deceptive

Anything that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights

Anything defamatory, harassing, threatening, or hateful

Non-consensual recordings, or the exploitation of anyone

Malware, or anything designed to disrupt the Service

Built-in music, sounds, fonts and graphics

The music, sound effects, fonts, stickers, frames, and graphics bundled with Shorties may be used in the videos and carousels you make with Shorties and publish anywhere. You may not extract them from the app to use elsewhere or redistribute them on their own. The bundled songs are AI-generated and cleared for this use. GIFs come from Giphy under Giphy’s terms. Open-licence fonts and data are credited in Settings › Legal › Credits.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Abuse, overload, or interfere with the Service or its servers

Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service

Reverse engineer, decompile, or try to extract source code from the app or our servers

Get around paywalls, subscription checks, credit meters, rate limits, or access controls

Use automated tools to access the Service without our written permission

Impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are

Copying Shorties

You may not use the Service, or anything you learn through it, to copy, clone, or misappropriate Shorties. That includes:

Copying or replicating Shorties’ interface, flows, visual design, branding, prompts, or product concepts for a competing product

Extracting source code, algorithms, prompts, or proprietary logic

Using screenshots, screen recordings, or access to the app to document or reproduce proprietary features for commercial use

Making derivative works based on Shorties without written permission from Subbie

8. Intellectual property

Shorties, including its name, logos, branding, software, designs, workflows, prompts, documentation, styles, and built-in assets, is owned by Subbie and protected by intellectual property laws.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal content creation. This licence does not let you copy, compete with, or build a substitute for Shorties.

All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Subbie. Third-party names and trademarks (including Apple, App Store, Claude, Higgsfield and Giphy) belong to their owners.

9. Enforcement and account termination

Monitoring

To protect the Service and our intellectual property, we may use usage insights and security signals, including screenshot and screen-recording events and flagged developer accounts, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Our right to terminate

If we reasonably believe your account is being used to copy or misappropriate Shorties, or to break sections 5, 6, 7, or 8 of these Terms, we may, without prior notice and at our sole discretion:

Suspend or terminate your account and your access to the Service

Revoke cloud AI and connector access tied to your account

Block your Apple user identifier from signing in again

Take any other action we consider necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the Service

Where termination is for breaking these Terms, we are not obliged to refund any unused subscription period or credits. Refund eligibility for App Store purchases remains subject to Apple’s policies.

Appeals

If you believe your account was terminated in error, contact hello@subbie.world. We will review your request but are not obliged to reinstate an account.

Survival

Sections on intellectual property, acceptable use, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law, and this section survive termination.

10. Ending it yourself

You may stop using the Service at any time. Settings › Delete Account deletes everything we hold about you on our servers and removes Shorties data from your device, as described in our Privacy Policy. Unused credits go with the account.

Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel that in your Apple account’s Subscriptions settings, or Apple keeps billing you.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SUBBIE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that AI output will be accurate or suitable for any purpose. Third-party services you connect (Higgsfield, Claude) are provided by their owners under their own terms.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

SUBBIE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE

SUBBIE’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SUBBIE THROUGH THE APP STORE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50)

Some places do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case, our liability is limited as far as the law allows.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or intentional misconduct.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Subbie and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or anyone else’s rights.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to email hello@subbie.world and try to resolve the dispute informally.

Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York, New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

15. General

Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Subbie about the Service.

Severability: if any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

No waiver: if we do not enforce a right or provision, we have not given it up.

Assignment: you may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Changes: we may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version is always at https://createshorties.com/terms-of-service with its effective date. We will tell you about material changes in the app or by email where appropriate. Using the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
